Monica Strauss

Monica Strauss, PA-C, is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant, nationally certified from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed by the state of Illinois. She provides medical dermatology services to residents throughout the River North neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, at Medical Dermatology Associates of Chicago.
 
Monica was born and raised in Atlanta, GA, and is fluent in both English and Spanish, having been raised in a bilingual household. Her father is from Mexico City and her mother is of Cuban parents. She is an alumna of Indiana University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Community Health and a minor in Psychology. She gained experience working as a medical assistant and dermatology tech for two and a half years in a fast-paced dermatology practice in Atlanta, GA, where she first fell in love with dermatology. She then received her Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Mercer University in Atlanta, where she graduated in 2023.
 
Following graduation, Monica completed two one-month elective clinical rotations in dermatology at two different Chicago-based dermatology practices and completed her senior seminar research project on amelanotic malignant melanoma. She is passionate about the early detection and prevention of skin cancer. She also loves to diagnose and treat eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, acne, and warts, among many other dermatologic conditions.
 
Monica is inquisitive and observant of the smallest details and prioritizes providing complete, detailed, and patient-centered care. She strives to build personal relationships with every patient she meets, make patients feel comfortable during their visits, and feel fully informed upon completion of the visit. She is dedicated to helping patients incorporate skincare and sun protection practices into their routines, recognizing the importance of habits for maintaining healthy skin. She is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
 
In her free time, Monica enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, trying new restaurants, going on long walks, traveling, and attending as many Atlanta Braves games as possible.
