PRP for age management
Platelet Rich Plasma (or PRP) involves extracting a small amount of blood from the patient’s arm and placing it in a sterile tube. The patients blood is then spun down in a centrifuge machine that separates the platelets, and the resulting plasma is injected them into your skin via microneedling or intra-dermal injection to the treatment area. Once injected, this plasma stimulates the body’s own cells to produce new collagen, plump fine lines and wrinkles, boost elasticity, improve skin tone, and refine texture. Results may begin to show 3-4 weeks post treatment and continue to improve with time. Three treatment sessions are generally recommended, spaced 4-5 weeks apart, to achieve the best outcome.
PRP for the treatment of hair loss
PRP can also be used to treat hair loss in patients. Almost all types of hair loss both in men and women can be treated. For hair loss that comes with age, it is best utilized as early as possible. Deciding if PRP or another treatment is best for you is a discussion to have with your dermatologist. When we specially prepare PRP and inject it into the scalp, it stimulates your hair to regrow and thickens the hair shafts. Ultimately, this helps restore healthy hair in an all-natural way.
